Faculty of Medical Sciences

The Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences is one of the academic faculties at Al Jazeera University (Ibb). It was established under Ministerial Decree No. (238) dated 26/3/2011 to meet the local market’s need for qualified medical personnel in the fields of pharmaceutical sciences and medical laboratory analysis.

The Faculty of Medical Sciences consists of two main departments: the Pharmacy Department and the Medical Laboratory Sciences Department. The duration of study in these programs depends on the nature of the specialization; the Bachelor’s program in Pharmacy lasts five years, while the Medical Laboratory Sciences program lasts four years. Graduates of these programs are awarded a Bachelor’s degree in their field of specialization, which is recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and is equivalent to similar programs in public universities.

Since its establishment until the academic year 2020/2021, the faculty has graduated seven cohorts from the Pharmacy Department and eight cohorts from the Medical Laboratory Sciences Department.

The faculty’s vision is to achieve excellence in the fields of medical sciences locally and regionally in a way that meets labor market needs and fulfills national quality standards. Its mission is to prepare highly competent medical support professionals through quality academic programs, developed infrastructure, an effective academic and administrative staff, and a strong professional ethical framework.

Since its establishment, the faculty has adopted a strategic development plan aimed at improving its performance. It has developed its study plans and seeks to introduce new specializations that serve society and align with the university’s vision of contributing to development, quality, and advancement. Among the proposed programs are Anesthesia and Radiology. The faculty’s ambitions go beyond its past achievements, as it continuously strives for further development in knowledge and capacity expansion, enabling it to attain a distinguished position within the private higher education system in the Republic of Yemen.
